PA has a loosely written philosophical exemption, that leans toward the language of a religious exemption. Schools have different policies. Check your state law at http://www.NVIC.org and your local policy. In Ohio, you can write your own; no physician required.

My daughter is starting middle school in the fall and just got this exact letter. I have been scrambling to find a local dr (we live in Pittsburgh) who would sign off on an exemption form. Now I’m wondering if that’s not necessary?? Can I just write my own exemption letter to the school? Thanks!

I am so glad I found this site! I was ready to cave in and force my son, who is going to be a senior, to have the meningitis vaccine. I rec’d a similar notice, saying he will not be allowed at school. In fact, the law states he can be in school for 14 days before providing proof of vaccine. I am now prepared to write my letter conscientiously objecting to him receiving this vaccine. Thank you!
