Throwback Thursday: The Persecution of Christians

The opening ceremony of the Olympics was so in your face! The message sent: Christians are not welcome in the world. Dr. Tenpenny wrote about this debacle in her Sunday July 28 substack, Father Forgive Them, Their Day is Coming. Read it here.

We tend to think about the persecution of Christians as a thing of the past, but that is absolutely not the case. Here are some stats for 2023 from World Watch Report for what was done to Christians because of their faith:

  • 5,000 Christians were killed
  • 4,000 were abducted
  • 4,000 Christians detained
  • 295,000 Christians were forcibly displaced from their homes
  • 15,000 churches were attacked or closed
  • 365 million Christians live in nations with high levels of persecution or discrimination. That’s 1 in 7 Christians worldwide.
  • Sub-Saharan Africa—the epicenter of global Christianity—remains the epicenter of violence against followers of Jesus

Christian persecution is definitely a thing. Here’s the list of the top 50 countries where Christians are persecuted. And it’s not random. It’s by design. We wrote about it recently in our two-part article The Left’s Three Pronged Attack on Property, Family and Religion, Part 1 and Part 2. It’s the topic of this week’s Throwback Thursday.
