TALKING POINTS: [PERSONALIZE WITH YOUR OWN EXPERIENCE]
Support HB 193 because this bill would protect employees from being fired, not hired or discriminated against for choosing not to be vaccinated for flu. People shouldn’t have to choose between a flu vaccine and their employment.
According to the CDC in 2014-2015, the overall flu vaccine effectiveness against all influenza viruses was 19%. (source)
There is evidence that repeated flu shots may blunt the vaccine’s effectiveness in subsequent seasons. (source)
As of October 3, 2016, there had been 2,954 claims filed in the federal Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP) for injuries and deaths following Influenza vaccination, including 109 deaths and 2,845 serious injuries.
Using the MedAlerts search engine, as of June 30, 2016, there have been more than 128,194 reports of reactions, hospitalizations, injuries and deaths following influenza vaccinations made to the federal Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS), including 1,270 related deaths, 10,780 hospitalizations, and 2,377 related disabilities. In 2013 the Federal Advisory Commission on Childhood Vaccines (ACCV) voted to add GBS to the Vaccine Injury Table within the federal Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP).
Flu deaths are exaggerated by public health officials as they are combined with pneumonia deaths in CDC reports. Data from 2010, reported by the CDC in 2013, lists 50,097 deaths from both diseases, but further investigation reveals this number is 500 from influenza and 49,597 cases of pneumonia. (source) (see table 10, page 39)
Most multi-dose vials of flu vaccine still contain Thimerosal, a mercury derivative known to cause neurological damage. (source), (source), (source)
The flu vaccine has historically been ineffective and the studies on its merit are lacking. The Cochrane Review—widely considered the gold standard for mainstream medical review—has concluded in every review of the flu shot for over a decade that the available safety/efficacy studies are of extremely poor quality.
