A measles outbreak is being reported in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and Rockland County, following a child’s trip to Israel. There are currently 11 total cases in Rockland County and six cases in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
Israel is currently experiencing an uptick in measles.
The infected child flew from Israel to Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey on September 28th. The child then traveled throughout Rockland County.
Some of the children were seemingly vaccinated, however, the news reports aren’t being specific.

Five of the children in Brooklyn were not vaccinated and a sixth child had received one dose but was not yet immune.

Measles is transmitted by airborne particles, droplets, and direct contact with the respiratory secretions of an infected person.
