According to health officials in Sarasota County, Florida, four children are now diagnosed with measles. Officials claim the measles derived locally, though that’s not been confirmed.

The Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County says all the children were in close contact with one another. DOH is making attempts to notify all parents in the region whose children may have been exposed to these children. The DOH also says measles “can be severe,” but notates that’s more typical in the immunocompromised.

And of course, the DOH is calling for all citizens in the area to immediately get measles vaccinated.
