United Kingdom – A vegan mother who had hoped to keep her son’s vegan, as well, has lost a battle with her former husband to the High Court, which will now force the children to receive a handful of vaccinations.
“I am truly sorry that the mother will regard the decision as wrong, but my objective duty is clear,” Judge Mark Rogers said, according to the MSN. The mother, whose name won’t be revealed by the courts, stated that she does believe some vaccines work but also fears some yield side effects. The court’s order is for diphtheria, polio, meningitis, measles, mumps and rubella.
The mother fought throughout, saying that her children only eat natural products. “Their bodies are as free of toxins as I can possibly make them.” She also said that cradle cap, a persistent c, ugh and eczema seemed to result from prior vaccines. The children’s father said of her, she is “obsessive, overprotective and narrow-minded” and has “a suspicion of all conventional medicine.”
The mother stated in court the following:
“What I have learned is that yes, vaccines do work some of the time, but there is a definite risk with vaccination. The vaccine manufacturers have cited that vaccines are ‘unavoidably unsafe.’ There is a very rare risk that either of the children will ever catch one of the diseases listed in this report. Both children have strong immune systems which definitely helps in protecting them from diseases.”
“No vaccine is vegan. No doctor will criticize the action of a vaccination or they will be afraid of losing their job. It is not natural to be injected with metal elements and a vegan it goes against my beliefs for my child to be injected with something that is grown on animal cells or something that has been tested on animals.”
But the judge was unwavering in his decision against her, citing she was unable to get a doctor to testify on her behalf and support her beliefs. “I have serious concerns as to (the mother’s) ability to look objectively and evenhandedly.” The judge also cited the 1989 Children’s Act as the core reasoning behind forcing the vaccinations.
