Kansas Reports Potential Whooping Cough Outbreak, Pushes ‘Boosters’

The county is claiming five cases of pertussis, so far. Other potential cases are also under investigation.

The report does not give any details on the vaccination statuses of the diagnosed. However, the article notes that “Protection against pertussis from the childhood vaccine “DTaP.”

In this case, health officials are pushing the booster version, “Tdap.” They encourage older children, pregnant women, and adults to get the booster shot.

Does this mean that the potential current cases are vaccinated with DTaP?
