The Toxic Truth About Cooking With Aluminum Foil

Aluminum is a popular kitchen product for families all over the world. It can make cooking an easier experience. Many people wrap food in it, such as corn and potatoes, and then grill or bake them. But is this type of procedure safe? The answer is: not really. Studies show that aluminum isn’t a safe bet when it comes to your health. And anytime you cook with it, the heat transfers the aluminum chemically to your foods.

Aluminum is a neurotoxin. It has been associated with Alzheimer’s. Chemistry professor, Ghada Bassioni, says that wrapping our foods in foil for cooking purposes increases our Alzheimer’s risks.

During extensive research with a team of professors, Bassioni found a link to many conditions.

‘For instance, high concentrations of aluminum have been detected in the brain tissue of patients with Alzheimer’s disease,’ she said.

‘Scientists have examined the community of old people with Alzheimer’s and concluded that it is a modern disease that’s developed from altered living conditions associated with society’s industrialization,’ said Bassioni.

‘Cookware tends to be oxidised, providing an inert layer that prevents the aluminum from leaching into food.’

Alzheimers.ca says that foil, pots and pans, contribute to a small portion of aluminum avoidance, but even in such a case, it would make sense to lower exposure as much as possible. The World Health Organization says we can tolerate 40mg per kilogram of body weight per day. Decide how comfortable you are with this for yourself. The World Health Organization says we can tolerate 40mg per kilogram of body weight per day. Aluminum Toxicity has become a regular part of our daily lives. Aluminum is found in our cookware, deodorants, and even our childhood vaccines.

If you are feeling overwhelmed by the potential loss of your cooking friend, fear not, there are lots of wiser alternatives to foil in the kitchen.

It is all survivable, my friends, it just might take a little extra research and a little more work, but when it comes to our health, we should have no limits.

Aluminum is also used in vaccines as an adjuvant. So there’s that, also….

  1. Does anyone know if the aluminum has to be heated to leach out? I think the interior of my ice cream maker is aluminum. I’ve eliminated it in every way I can think of in my house, and recently saw on a blog post that someone had found an ice cream maker that was stainless steel…hadn’t thought about it before…

    • Good question – I found this: “For example, red meats that were cooked for 40 minutes at 400°F (205°C) were found to have up nearly 380% more aluminum contamination than before cooking. Poultry, especially the breast meat, showed levels of just over 200% more aluminum than was present before cooking.”http://www.healthyandnaturalworld.com/aluminum-foil-risks/
